Chervil, Anthriscus cerefolium

Not to be confused with sweet cicely, which is also called great, sweet and cow chervil, this is the culinary chervil not used for anything else. It looks like parsley, flowers in its second year, has leaves that turn pink in the autumn, and produces seeds that don’t stay viable for long, so a good plan is to let it seed itself and gather ye flavoursome leaves while ye may, which can be only a few weeks after germination. Also like parsley, it is not so good when dried. The plant will grow more or less anywhere and is hardy.
